If you’re a fan of blue lights and sirens, or if you’ve ever fancied throwing a wet sponge at a cop, then we’ve got a date for your diary you won’t want to miss.

Nee Naw Day is back and this summer not only will it be bigger and better than ever but it’s also raising money for an excellent cause.

The family fun day will be held at Cromwell Road Police Station, Grimsby, on Saturday, August 17 and all are welcome.

Sergeant Daryl Caroline, pictured with Scrubs the bear, said: “Nee Naw day is one of the highlights of our year and I can’t wait for this year’s event.

“Last year thousands of people came along and it was an absolutely fantastic day – and this year it will be even more special, as we’re going to be raising money for the Health Tree Foundation.

“This is a fantastic local charity working with the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, providing vital equipment and support for patients and their families in our area.”

As well as fun, games, you’ll have the opportunity to explore vehicles used by our officers and other emergency services and we’ll also be giving advice to children on how to keep themselves safe over the summer holiday.

Big plans for this event will be announced nearer the time.

Sgt Caroline added: “We and our friends with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service have big plans for this year’s event, which we’ll be announcing details of nearer the time.

“What I can promise is that you’ll be able to get up close to lots of our vehicles and equipment, there’ll be lots of hands-on activities for you to get involved in and we’ve got a number of officers who have volunteered to take a turn in the stocks, so if you’ve ever wanted to throw a wet sponge at us, now’s your chance!”

Laura Gooderham, Community Champion for the Health Tree Foundation at Grimsby Hospital, said: “We are delighted that we are the chosen charity for this year’s Nee Naw Day.

“We are so excited to be a part of this fantastic event and cannot thank the officers at Cromwell Road Police Station enough for supporting their local charity.”
