Government peers want to remove some benefits for pensioners.

An influential group of government peers has advised that we scrap some of the benefits for the elderly. They want to stop benefits such as free TV licence, free bus pass, and fuel allowance.

They want to be able to pour more money into housing and training for young people. The government peers think that the system as it is currently is not fit for purpose any longer.

They claim that more pensioners are well of these days than when the benefits were first introduced.

One pensioner who has worked all his life was of the opinion that why should we have something taken away from us we have worked all our lives for. We struggled to afford a deposit for a house.

Another said Why should young people get the help they should help themselves, most of us worked from the age of 14.

Not all people have a fat bank balance a lot of pensioners have to get by on just there old age pension. An awful lot of pensioners rely on the winter fuel payment, and without it, they would go cold.

Do you think it is cruel to remove benefits for pensioners?

      Government peers want to scrap some benefits for pensioners….this is just more proof if needed of just how out of touch those in government really are they think everybody of a certain age has got nice big fat pensions and bank balances just like them, when are they going to realise that a lot of pensioners who have worked hard all their lives to provide for their families don’t have 2 jags in their garages or the use of duty free government work place and nice holidays (sorry I meant fact finding tours). We need more help not less!!!!

      Women like me already have to wait an extra six years for our pensions so lose bus passes etc anyway. Now they’re saying pensions won’t go up with inflation. Relatively speaking it was just as hard when we saved for a house. If they want every age to have a good life why are they only taking things off pensioners?

      DISGUSTING, THEY ARE TAKING LIFE AWAY, ALL READY TAKEN 6TH AS FROM US, THEY KEEP PUTTING MONEY DOWN THE TOILET FOR THE YOUNG ONES THAT WILL NEVER GO TO WORK BUT US OLDER ONES THAT’S WORKED ALL ARE LIFE’S THEY ARE TAKING IT AWAY FROM US , THE GOVERNMENT ARE FULL OF SHIT’

      It is unfair to take money off pensioners I’m 60 and have to wait to get a bus pass I struggle to get about as it,is with my osteoarthritis so leave the pensioners alone
