Did you take place in North East Lincs Council weekly recycling pilot that is due to end next week.

North East Lincs Council rolled out a recycling pilot that is due to end next week.

Residents taking part in the pilot were given a black bin for tins and plastic, and a large orange sack to recycle paper and card.

During the trial, recycling was collected weekly.

Many residents who took place in the trial have said they really like the black bins and a number of residents would like to keep them.

But the Council have said that they can’t mix wheelie bins and recycling boxes on their usual rounds.

And from next week residents have to go back to their old recycling boxes. Although they can still use the orange bag.

Did you take part in the Weekly recycling pilot?

Did you prefer it to the old recycling boxes?

A number of residents we spoke to say the black bins work far better than the recycling boxes. They have proved they work so why does the Council not let us keep them instead of going to the expense of collecting them all in.

Why was they empties weekly? When the recycle boxes are 2 weekly? Surely be better to have the wheel bins and 2 weekly collection. They surly hold more?

If they not to use them it wasn’t a good idea and not getting rolled out

There are so many problems with the boxes.
Wind blowing them and/or contents around the streets.
Boxes being stolen and used for storage in garages and sheds
I’ve even seen some for sale on face book.
If you can’t mix bins and boxes then please, please just give us BINS!

I now live in Surrey, we have a blue wheelie bin for all recycling (including glass), collected alternate weeks to general rubbish ( black bin) food waste is collected weekly(small green bin), great system, we don’t have to store lots of boxes or separate our recycling and nothing gets blown around or wet!

I live in East Lindsay up the road and we have a grey wheelie bin for EVERYTHING recyclable except glass. (Bottle banks everywhere). Its collected every 2 weeks which is ok. Everyone I spoke to in Grimsby say they wish they had a simpler system like ours. Surely a simpler system encourages people to recycle more??
