Crossing Patrol not replaced
Springfield Primary Academy has been without a crossing patrol on Lavenham Road since the new term started in January.
Parents have expressed concern about the safety of the children who attend there with one parent saying: “Drivers behave like idiots on Lavenham Road and I worry for the safety of the children crossing, this is also a bus route so a busy road and most mornings and afternoons you see children crossing unsafely. I think a crossing patrol is much needed.”
North East Lincolnshire Council is responsible for the appointment on replacing the crossing patrol for Lavenham Road.
A North East Lincolnshire Council spokesperson said: “We regularly monitor all School Crossing Patrol (SCP) sites in the borough. When a School Crossing Patrol point becomes vacant, under SCP guidelines, we carry out a risk assessment and risk management investigation to determine if the location still warrants a School Crossing Patrol.
“We are currently going through this process on Lavenham Road and a decision will be made in due course.”
