Is it ever ok to leave your child alone in the car?
Have you ever left your child alone in the car for 10 minutes maybe while you nipped into a friends house to drop something off? Or just ran into a shop.
Did people judge you for it or did anyone interfere? One lady on social media was criticised for leaving her child in the car while she goes to pay for petrol. Would you leave your child in the car while you paid for petrol? Was the lady right to criticise?
According to Gov.UK the law on leaving your child on their own does not say when you can leave a child on their own. But it is an offense to leave a child alone if it places them at risk. you need to use your judgment on how mature your child is before you decide to leave them alone at home or in the car.
Children under 12 are rarely mature enough to be left alone for a long period of time, Children under 16 should not be left alone overnight, babies toddlers and young children should never be left alone.
Do you think that it is ok to leave your child alone in the car for a short time occasionally? Or is it irresponsible parenting?
