North East Lincolnshire Council agrees budget for year ahead.
Residents of North East Lincolnshire will pay an extra 2.9 per cent in council tax for Council services in 2019-20.
Cost for band D property to increase.
This means that the costs for council-run services for residents in an average band D property will increase from £1,313.61 to £1,354.70. The majority of homes in North East Lincolnshire fall into Band A, where residents will pay £903.17.
The charges for NELC services form part of the overall council tax bill, which also includes portions for policing, fire and rescue and in some areas, town or parish councils.
Raise around £67 million.
The authority estimates that the increase will raise around £67 million, including £5.191 million for adult social care. It will also use £1.3 million from its reserves to offset cost pressures.
Further plans announced in the budget also include £19.2 million for roads and pavement improvements, £7.5 million for local schools and £6.3 million for older and disabled home grants.
Funding cuts from the government.
Authorities across the region are looking at other sources of income in the face of funding cuts from Government.
Councils are expected to see a further reduction in their revenue support grant, the main source of funding from Westminster.
