Popular Grimsby soft-play area abandoned.

Captain’s Cove, one of Grimsby’s most popular soft-play areas suddenly closes today.

The play area at the Riverhead Centre no longer has an active website.

A former staff member confirmed that the business has gone into administration.

Many parents are shocked by the closure. One said:

‘Wow, this is a shock! I loved taking my children there.’

Another said:

‘It is such a shame it has closed it’s doors. Captain’s Cove was by far the best play centre around here.’

Captain’s Cove opened in October 2015 by Laceby businesswoman Anna Burnett. She hoped to attract up to 11,000 visitors a year.

The 42 year-old mother of two said the cost of running the centre, with its slides, nets, rides and go-karts has run into ‘six figures’.

At its opening, it had 18 staff members but latest staff numbers are unknown.
