Joe Biden beats Donald Trump to become next US President

Joe Biden has won the 2020 US presidential election after being projected to pass the required 270 Electoral College votes.

According to the Associated Press, Biden won the presidency by clinching Pennsylvania and its 20 electoral votes.

Biden has released a statement, thanking the American people for their support.

“I am honored and humbled by the trust the American people have placed in me and in Vice President-elect Harris,” Biden said.

“In the face of unprecedented obstacles, a record number of Americans voted. Proving once again, that democracy beats deep in the heart of America.”

Trump is reportedly refusing to concede defeat and recently tweeted: “I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT!”
