Lily-Rose Depp’s ‘secret thoughts’ on fathers’ trial

Lily-Rose Depp has addressed her apparent silence over the internationally watched Johnny Depp V Amber Heard defamation trial.

The star has hit back and said she is entitled to her ‘secret thoughts’.

59-year-old Depp was formed a high-profile lawsuit against his ex-wife.

The actor sued Amber, 36, over a 2018 article she wrote for the Washington Post about her experiences as a survivor of domestic abuse, which his lawyers said falsely accused him of being an abuser.

In June, a jury concluded in favour of Depp, and he was awarded 10.3 million at Fairfax County Court.

The trial ran for six-weeks, and during this time Lily-Rose was the victim of online harassment from her dad’s fans as they called on the 23-year-old to vocally support him.

She remained silent and is still yet to discuss the trial.

“When it’s something that’s so private and so personal that all of a sudden becomes not so personal … I feel really entitled to my secret garden of thoughts,” Lily-Rose said in her Elle cover story, for December 2022/January 2023.

“I also think that I’m not here to answer for anybody.

“I feel like for a lot of my career, people have really wanted to define me by the men in my life, whether that’s my family members or my boyfriends”.

The actress added that she was “really ready” to be defined by her own career.
