James Corden breaks his silence on retaurant drama
James Corden has broken his silence after a New York City restaurant owner called him the ‘most abusive customer’.
In an Instagram post, Balthazar owner Keith McNally said he was banning Corden from ever dining at his establishment after allegations of Corden behaving badly to the restaurant staff.
McNally called Corden a “hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man.”
However, he reversed the ban after Corden called him to apologise, writing: “I strongly believe in second chances…anyone magnanimous enough to apologize to a deadbeat layabout like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere.”
The Late Late Show had yet to address the drama but has now spoken out in an interview with The New York Times ahead of his Prime Video mini-series Mammals being released next month.
In the interview, journalist Dave Itzkoff said he was surprised Corden still wanted to do the interview due to all the bad press he was having.
Corden responded with: “I haven’t done anything wrong, on any level.
“So why would I ever cancel this? I was there. I get it. I feel so Zen about the whole thing.
“Because I think it’s so silly. I just think it’s beneath all of us. It’s beneath you. It’s certainly beneath your publication.”
He went on to add: “I think I’m probably going to have to talk about it on Monday’s show. My feeling, often, is, never explain, never complain. But I’ll probably have to talk about it.”
