Tributes flood in after Scunthorpe mum dies in tragic crash

Tributes have continued to flood in after a Scunthorpe mother tragically lost her life in a car crash.

Shannon Hunt for just 24 years old when she sadly passed away after her car collided with a tree last month. An inquest into her death has now opened.

Marianne Johnson, North East Lincolnshire assistant coroner, opened an inquest at Cleethorpes Town Hall. She told how the mother to a little boy was a passenger in the Audi car, along with two other passengers and a driver.

The three other occupants sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital to receive medical assistance after paramedics arrived on the scene.

The inquest was told her brother Shane identified Shannon following the devasting crash.

Although no cause of death was released during the hearing, the assistant coroner had doubts if Shannon was wearing a seatbelt.

After the tragic accident, an array of floral tributes began to emerge for the young mother.

As the hearing commenced, a family spokesperson said Shannon’s death was still “very fresh and painful to us.

“It feels unforgiveable that such a young, precious life was taken in a car accident, which we strongly believe was needless and avoidable.

“We remember a girl who was full of life, a bright bubbly character and a thoughtful soul. We miss her beautiful smile and beautiful laugh.”

The inquest was adjourned to a provisional date in January.
