League upsets and incredible braces: Here’s this weeks action!
Back In Black Beauty came close to turning Division 1 league table upside down with a hard-fought effort against lead leaders Showmand Army. Braces from Brow and Jenkin put the hosts in a favourable position early on however the league and cup doubles winners recovered to take home the 8-5 win.
Mulligans Trojans closed the gap to just one point following an excellent 11-2 away win at Broughton Club with star man Cunnyworth scoring another double to keep up his shot at winning the player averages.
Showman’s Fu Cue also scored heavy this week winning 10-2 at home to 6th placed Beacon. Redbourne Mods once again pulled off a good result in their first season in the topflight drawing 6-6 at Showman’s Chaos.
The relegation battle between 8th placed Cobras and 9th placed Brumby Hall finished in a draw with both teams desperate for frames as the season goes on.
Local dog whisperer and poker supremo Elliott Marais was on relentless form this week for the Majestic Sausage Dogs, scoring a brace in quick succession to ensure las dachshunds stay top of division 2 winning 8-5 away at Glenny’s Poachers.
Showman’s Improvers were also on song this week, keeping the title race alive winning 8-4 at home to black beauty. Cocked Hat B keep their promotion hopes alive with their seventh win of the campaign against RAOB winning 7-5.
Seventh placed messingham Crown and sixth placed Mill Road Black Cats picked up good wins this week at Winterton Jubilee 9-4, and at home to Ashby Crown 7-5.
Division three is dominated by eight fours and draws this week. The first draw was at Harry’s Bar as six frames was enough to keep them out of the bottom two.
The second came at Pig & Whistle who are having a good season as they drew with Old Farmhouse. Showman’s Rat Outcasts are meaning business this time round with a terrific 8-4 win over fellow promotion hopefuls Mulligans Tight Rack.
Fedoras also stay in the title race in second with an 8-4 win over struggling Chancel z flyers whilst third placed Showman’s Spartans also won by the same score line against Cocked Hat A.
Bottesford Town A scored their biggest win of the evening in division 4 to extend their lead at the top to 4 points with a convincing 10-3 win away at Mulligans Youth. Right behind them in second come Schnapps A who defeated fellow promotion chasers Redbourne Madness 8-4.
Mulligans ST missed out on the chance of making up ground as they could only manage a draw at eighth placed Chancel.
Broughton WMCA scored a decent 9-4 away win at Jolly Sailor to keep the sailors in the relegation zone whilst the mid table class between Redbourne NnC and RHH Hospital club finished 7-5 in favour of the hosts.
Beckwood Bombers picked up a huge victory this week at Ashby Crown B, winning 11-2 to boost them to fifth place in the league. Showman’s Hornets stay top for yet another week, winning 8-5 at fellow promotion hopefully a Black Beauty B. Just one point behind in second come Mill Road Dynamite who won 8-4 this week at home to Roxy Rack Em.
Showman’s Young Ones also picked up another win this week to stay in the title picture as they overcame Mill Road B 7-5 to move up to third with a game in hand. Talbots good form continues once again this week as they won convincingly 9-3 against Butchers of Winterton.
Long-time league members Beacon Rats scored one of their most comprehensive victories ever this week as they came away from Scunthorpe Bowl with a 11-2 win to move up to third in division 6.
Harry’s Bar Harriers move a further point clear at the top, making the gap 9 points as they won 10-3 away at Foxhills Bulldogs. Beckwood Sex Panthers keep up the pace in second winning 8-4 at home to Mill Road DM. Schnapps Elite move into fourth also with an 8-4 victory over Foxhills Club.
Keadby Club are in prime position to pounce on top spot with their game in hand following their excellent 9-4 win at second placed Mulligans Unique.
Meanwhile Schnapps Reloaded have pinched top spot and stay unbeaten thus far with a 9-3 win over club mates Retro B. Youth side Mulligans Spurs capture their second win of the season away at bottom side Priory.
Lord Roberts kept their promotion dreams alive with a good 9-3 win over Schnapps Retro A whilst seventh placed Bottesford Town Club scored their third victory of the season against Grosvenor B.
