Iron to host Yeovil Town on National League opening day

Scunthorpe United will host Yeovil Town on the opening day of the new National League campaign in August.

Following their heart-breaking relegation from League Two last season, The Iron will be looking to bounce straight back into the EFL, emulating local rivals GTFC during their promotion winning season.

As Keith Hill’s men warm-up during their pre-season matches, eyes are now fixed onto life in the National League as the upcoming season’s fixture lists are now confirmed.

Scunthorpe will host Yeovil Town at Glandford Park on day one of the new season, a difficult opening fixture for The Iron after The Glovers finished in 12 place last year.

On paper, Scunthorpe should be challenging for promotion given their rich history in the EFL and the talented roster that Hill has to work with. However, the National League is a tough and unforgiving journey which could be exacerbated by the lack of new recruits and talent retention respectively.

The Iron boss has already spoken out about his troubled during the transfer window but stated he would remain “patient.”
