Calls for CCTV in People’s Park following playground vandalism
Local park lovers are calling for additional CCTV to be installed throughout the park following further vandalism to the playground equipment.
Over the weekend, imagery began to emerge depicting an isolated piece of play equipment which seems to have endured unnecessary vandalism.
Outraged by the sad news, locals argued it is time for a change as “it’s (anti-social behaviour) is getting a joke now.”
The playground, located near the heart of People’s Park, is enjoyed by children and families of all ages, which illustrates the thoughtlessness of the select few that continue to engage in such activities.
Upon discovering the broken equipment, one local stated it was “extremely disappointing” to witness the brand-new installations having “already received damage,” before arguing the equipment was now “dangerous if someone climbs onto it.”
Although the park does have CCTV cameras in operation, some fear the visual angle will not cover “anti-social hotspots,” frequently utilised by those looking to cause trouble.
Another local compared the destructive vandalism to behaviour exhibited across alternative parks in the area, which have since received increased additional CCTV cameras.
Joining in on the conversation, one regular park goer urged the police to increase their presence across our local beauty spots, adding: “I think we are going around in circles,” when discussing the reported incidents in multiple parks.
Meanwhile, one resident confirmed they have since stopped visiting People’s Park due to anti-social behaviour and the destructive path that they leave.
What are your experiences in are local parks? What needs to be done to protect them?
