Mariners react to Khan joining GTFC

Yesterday (1 July), Grimsby Town announced they had signed a bright midfielder from fellow League Two rivals.

Last night, the Mariners confirmed they had signed Otis Khan, a bright wide midfielder from Leyton Orient, as their strong transfer window continues to please.

During his six-month spell with the O’s, Khan earned 20 appearances and bagged himself a goal.

Additionally, the new Mariner is well-versed with League Two football having already collected around 200 appearances during spells with clubs such as Walsall, Tranmere Rovers, Newport County, Mansfield Town and Yeovil Town.

Speaking to Town after penning a two-year deal, Khan said he was “happy to be here,” adding:

“There’s a real buzz about the Club, there are a lot of good players here and I’m looking forward to contributing where I can.

“I’m an attack-minded player who likes to get the ball, take players on and try and get goals and assists. I met the majority of the lads today and they all seem like great lads – everyone seems really nice. I can’t wait to get going properly now.”

Meanwhile, Paul Hurst had confirmed the 26-year-old had been on his “radar for a couple of year,” adding:

“Otis is very experienced at this level, and he’ll bring a bit of know-how to what is a relatively young squad.

“He had a spell at Tranmere playing at right back, which I have to say he did very well, but he’s coming here to be a creative player.

“I’m hoping he can have a good season, he experienced League Two last year through two different clubs, and he wants somewhere to call ‘home’ – hopefully that can be with Grimsby Town.”

Following GTFC’s announcement, fans flooded the comments with warm welcoming messages, one saying this was a “fantastic signing.”

“Another good, experienced and still a great age. Great to have another versatile player within the squad,” praised another.

“Welcome to GTFC Otis, hope you do us proud! ATAW!,” added another proud Mariner.

Welcome to Blundell Park, Otis!
