New date confirmed for Platinum Jubilee Picnic in the Park

The long-awaited Platinum Jubilee Picnic in the Park has been given a new date as bad weather forced the event to cancel.

Picnic in the Park will take place at Grimsby’s own ‘jewel in the crown’, People’s Park, on Sunday 3 July,

The free community event is produced by The Culture House and will host a day of excitement, including:
* Make a crown children’s crafts from 11am – 1.30pm
* Sam Simmons 12pm
* Family procession 1.30pm
* Hessle Ceilidh Band (A participatory dance or party, accompanied by lively folk music)

Locals are encouraged to bring a picnic and be ready for some smiles!

Our Big Picture will be creating decor with communities in advance of the day and then delivering creative activities on the day from 11am, when children can make crowns to wear in a procession around the park, scheduled for 1.30pm.

There will be live music with Sam Simmons at 12pm and the Hessle Ceilidh Band providing uplifting sounds at 2pm, inviting you to get up and dance!

Over the four-day bank holiday at the beginning of June, the whole country marked 70 years since Her Majesty The Queen ascended the throne with thousands of street parties.

Thanks to NationalLottery players, Grimsby arts organisation The Culture House has awarded funding to host a creative and cultural event to celebrate.

Anyone and everyone are invited to relax and enjoy live music until 3pm.

On the day there will be a chance for children to get creative and make crowns and then take part in a procession around the park at 1.30pm. This will be followed by the sounds of the Hessle Ceilidh Band, which will no doubt get you up dancing!
