Goose rescued after being chased and pelted with rocks at local park
An American Buff Goose has been rescued by a local team after it was discovered at Grimsby’s Boulevard Park.
The rescue team believed that the goose was either lost or abandoned by its owner as it was wearing a tag with no contact information.
Members of the public told the team that the goose was regularly chased at the park, with some choosing to throw stones at it.
For safety, the swan was taken to the rescue centre, where hopefully its owner will come forward to take it home.
Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue said: “This American Buff Goose was collected by our volunteers on the 2nd of June after it was discovered at Grimsby’s Boulevard Park.
“It’s likely that this is a pet that has got lost or is one of the many that are abandoned every year.
“Although she is wearing a tag, it has no contact information.
“We had reports from the public that she had also regularly been chased at the park and had stones thrown at her so bringing her back to the rescue for safety was her best option.
“American Buff Geese do have the ability of flight, however, they often struggle due to their heavy breed.
“If you’re the owner and wish to be reunited please send us a message with the information of the tag, proof of ownership, and location lost from. If we do not hear anything we will assume that she is another abandoned goose and will find her suitable housing.”
