Humberside Police had a busy week in Scunthorpe
Humberside Police had an extremely busy week in Scunthorpe.
This week, Humberside Police stepped up their foot patrols to fall in-line with Knife Crime Awareness Week.
Additionally, the force had to deal with numerous reports of aggressive Scunthorpe residents which resulted in multiple arrests.
Finally, officers located a cannabis factory in the town and arrested four in relation to the discovery.
Throughout the week, Humberside Police have been spreading awareness for knife crime, educating students, and conducting thorough street searches with hopes to find discarded ‘weapons’
Officers conducted street sweeps on Teale Street, West Street, Berkeley Street, Frodingham Road, and Memorial Gardens. During these searches, an axe, a large knife, and knuckle dusters were found and subsequently destroyed.
Then, in the early hours of Wednesday (18 May), Humberside Police officers located a cannabis factory on Avenue Vivian, Scunthorpe.
The force confirmed the discovery in a statement which added:
“Four adult males were arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation and taken to custody for interview”
According to nearby residents, the property had previously been caught growing the Class B drug.
During the latter part of the week, Humberside Police arrested a woman on suspicion of robbery on Frodingham Road.
In the early hours of Saturday (21 May) morning, Humberside Police were called following reports of a disturbance outside a licensed premises.
Although the force is yet to release further details, a statement stated a 20-year-old male was charged with assaulting emergency workers.
“Following a disturbance outside a licenced premises in Scunthorpe in the early hours of Saturday morning, a 20 year old man has been charged with 5 counts of assault on an emergency worker and has since been remanded in custody”, Humberside Police said.
