Road closures and start times: everything you need to know about the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k

The start time for this year’s Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k is drawing nearer so here is everything you need to know about the race and all the fun planned.

Starting at Grimsby’s Town Hall on Sunday 5 June, the race will begin at 9 am with the runners beginning the flat and fast route which caters to all running abilities.

To get you around the route there will also be lots of music, bands, entertainment, 3 water stations, jelly baby station and a fireman’s hose to cool you down, kindly supplied by the local Humberside Fire & Rescue.

There will be a spectacular finish line event at the picturesque Victorian Peoples Park in the heart of the town, where you will be welcomed back with music, entertainment and a real carnival atmosphere to commemorate the Queens Platinum Jubilee.

Locals along the race route are invited to come onto their doorsteps with a cup of tea or a fry up to celebrate the jubilee and cheer on the runners.

Neil and Nicola Pattison, Tape2Tape race directors, said: “We’re thrilled to be supporting The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this year by putting on the fantastic Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k. And what better way to come together as a community and to connect with your neighbours and enjoy a chat over the garden fence?

“And with activities, stalls and music, People’s Park will make the ideal location for family and friends to enjoy themselves.”

Emma Toulson, lead stakeholder relations advisor at Ørsted, added: “With just over a month to go, we’re really excited to welcome everyone to Grimsby to enjoy the event. The race is a great place for Grimsby’s community to come together to celebrate. Good luck to all runners and as a runner myself, I know how important the supporters are, each cheer and clap helps makes the event what it is.”
