Thousands raised in memory of mother and son who were killed in Louth last May

A charity auction held in memory of a Louth mother and son who were sadly murdered in May last year has raised hundreds of pounds.

Bethany, 29, and her 9-year-old son DJ were stabbed to death by her ex-partner Daniel Boulton in Louth last May.

Boulton is currently serving 40 years on two concurrent life sentences.

The domestic abuse charity Be Their Voice (BTV) was set up in the wake of the deaths of Bethany and DJ.

The charity held a fundraising auction on Saturday 4 May at the LN11 Sports Bar and Function Room, raising a whopping £4000.

The auction was attended by dozens of people from across the county and Bethany and DJ’s family, including Bethany’s mum Caroline and sister Chloe.

Just some of the items donated by local people and businesses included a50-inch JVC Smart TV, a month-long Kenwick gym membership, a spa treatment with afternoon tea and a weekend away – with House of Commons memorabilia also donated by Louth & Horncastle MP Victoria Atkins.

Sharing the auctions success to Facebook Be Their Voice said: “We are absolutely blown away by the success of our first auction, it was an incredible evening and we are so proud of everyone involved.

“We have some thanks to give out, firstly to the amazing businesses and Victoria Atkins MP for the items you donated, we couldn’t have done it without you and we are so grateful. Secondly to the LN11 Sports Bar and Function room and to the staff that kept us in drink and food all night. Thank you to Angela Evison for the ballon arch, the colours matched our logo perfectly. Thank you Aidan Clarkson for capturing the night by taking photos.

“To every person who purchased an item, thank you deeply from all of us. Your enthusiasm and participation made the night the success that it was.

“Finally, we would like to take a moment to thank Darren and Caroline Vincent, your support for us has pushed us forward and your bravery on the night was paramount.

“Overall the total raised on the night was over £4000! Edan Lincs will be deeply appreciative of the money we can donate to the Freedom Fund, it will help so many looking to flee domestic abuse.

“Saturday night was the perfect way to start our journey, of being their voice.”
