Locals will see council tax energy rebate in their account in days
Residents in North East Lincolnshire can expect to see their council tax energy rebate in their bank accounts within the next few days.
Those who paid council tax via direct debit in April in bands A-D will automatically receive a £150 rebate.
More than 36,000 BACS payments have been processed by the council but they have also warned residents against scams as fraudsters will no doubt jump at the chance to ask for personal details.
Those in tax bands A-D who did not pay their council tax by direct debit in April will receive a letter informing them how to securely provide their bank details at the end of May.
A council spokesperson said: “People in households in council tax bands A – D who paid their council tax by direct debit in April will automatically receive the £150 energy rebate in their bank account in the next few days.
“More than 36,000 BACS payments were processed through the council’s system on Wednesday night this week, so payments should reach bank accounts shortly.
“Council taxpayers in households in council tax bands A – D who did not pay their council tax by direct debit in April will receive a letter informing them how to securely provide their bank details at the end of May.
“Please be aware of scams – the council will not contact people over the phone to ask for bank details.
“There is no need to contact the council regarding the energy rebate payments: payments to direct debit holders and the letters to those not on direct debit will be sent automatically.”
