New vaccination clinic opens in Freshney Place
A new walk-in vaccination clinic opened its doors in Freshney Place, Grimsby, at 10am today.
The centre will be offering jabs every day between now and Christmas Eve.
Pfizer and Moderna first and second vaccines will be available for people aged 16-plus.
Boosters will also be available for those over 18 who are eligible between now and Friday, December 24.
The clinic is run by staff from Drugs4Delivery, who also run a walk-in clinic on Moss Road.
You can visit the new clinic, which is situated in Freshney Place next to HMV, between 10am and 6.30pm today, tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday and from 9am to 3pm on Christmas Eve.
People are being advised to turn up in good time, as demand is expected to be high.
This comes as part of a new five-day push, which is an expansion of the drive that is already taking place across the borough.
North East Lincolnshire’s Deputy Director of Public Health, Geoff Barnes, said: “There is no doubt that people who have both doses of the vaccine and a booster have the maximum amount of protection possible against Covid and the variants, be that Delta or Omicron. We would ask one thing of people – if you are visiting Freshney Place this week please consider having the vaccine if you have not done so yet.”
As of last week, there was still 18% of the adult population in North East Lincolnshire who had not had a first dose of the vaccine, with 24% not having had the second.
Director at Freshney Place, Amanda Austin, added: “It’s incredibly important that everyone has access to these vaccinations, so we are more than happy to be supporting this vital service.
“As cases of Covid continue to rise we are asking all our visitors to follow the government’s guidance and ensure they wear a face covering and keep a safe distance from others when shopping,” she added.
Following the five-days’ use as a vaccination walk-in, the unit will remain open as testing centre with lateral flow tests also being distributed from there.
Vaccines are also available at a number of walk-in clinics across the borough – you can find a full list here.
