Docks Beers turn April Fools joke into special Christmas beer
Grimsby-based brewery Docks Beers have turned an April Fools joke into a special edition beer exclusively available this Christmas.
The brand-new ‘We P*ss on Your Fish’ is being referred to as the “cheeky cousin” of their fastest-selling beer, ‘Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap Fish’.
Both inspired by famous Grimsby Town chants, the beer continues the long-standing great relationship between the company and the faithful Mariners supporters.
The original joke, which can be seen below, got fans laughing but also got their taste buds going as many fell for the joke and demanded that it be made a reality.
Following our #GTFC inspired ‘Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap Fish’ we present our new 9% #Lager brewed for away fans visiting #GrimsbyTown
We ‘P!ss On Your Fish’ is a cloudy, straw-coloured lager which has an intense, hard to describe aroma

Docks Beers said: “On April 1st we posted on our social media about this beer (as an April Fools) – and the amount of people who actually came in to buy it (and fell for the joke) was astounding! So we knew we had to brew it as a perfect cheeky stocking filler.”
Will Douglas, co-owner of Docks Beers, said on Twitter: “It started as an April fool’s joke! Now it’s a reality. No offence intended. WE LOVE FISH”
The real beer has been toned down from the 9% ABV stated in the joke, to a respectable 6.2%, but that is still more than the popular ‘clap’ beer.
The beer is being called a “‘citrulicious’ fruit bomb of a Hazy IPA”, with “fruity east cost vibes, with a dank undercurrent you can literally surf on.”
Docks Beers say they have “maxxed out the juicy tropical flavours of Hallertau Blanc, Cryo Cascade and Simcoe” and have added a blend of C02 hop extracts.
The announcement got many fans laughing along with the company, as one person said: “You could have at least gone for “golden IPA…”
Another user said: “Erm, controversial! Dunno, but I think maybe urine for some flak over this one.”
