Scunthorpe MP calls for a vote on Vaccine Passport in the Commons
Scunthorpe MP, Holly Mumby-Croft, has called upon the Minister for a vote on domestic Vaccine Passports during an “Urgent Question” on the subject in the Commons.
Although she has been a supporter of the vaccination effort, she has previously openly expressed her scepticism on vaccination passports, having stated that she “would not want to see (vaccine passports) implemented beyond some very limited circumstances.”
Speaking after her question, Holly said:
“I know that this is a policy that many residents in Scunthorpe follow closely, and rightly so. As I have publicly said before, I am instinctively wary and uncomfortable with vaccine passports being implemented domestically.
Whilst it is reassuring that the Minister has promised further details and opportunities for scrutiny, we need to look at the government’s full proposals on this, and MPs should get a vote. I will continue to work with colleagues to push for a meaningful vote on this important issue.”
The Scunthorpe MP has previously polled her constituents on Vaccination Passports.
Out of 231 respondents, 66% were in favour of Vaccine passports for international travel, 32% were supportive of Vaccine passports in events without social distancing, and only 19% were supportive of vaccine passports as a condition of entering sups and pubs.
