Police in ‘high-value’ pursuit of HGV
Police were in a ‘high-value’ pursuit over the weekend as officers sought after a lorry driver.
Police pursued the driver of a lorry after reports it was towing a stolen trailer.
Officers from Humberside Police responded to reports of the HGV stealing the trailer on Saturday morning.
Police later found the vehicle but the driver fled on foot.
However, a short pursuit ended with officers catching up with the driver close to the M180 Motorway. The driver was detained and remained in custody yesterday evening (Saturday).
The force’s Roads Policing team shared images of the HGV and the trailer, which was carrying two large cylindrical containers strapped down inside.
Officers said they were investigating “multiple high-value thefts in Humberside”.
Posting on Twitter, the roads team said: “This morning Team 3 Roads Policing responded to reports of a HGV that had stolen a trailer.”
“Officers located the vehicle and after a short foot pursuit detained the driver near to the M180. Suspect remains in custody whilst we investigate multiple high value thefts in Humberside.”
