Car-nage after joy ride ends in flames

Locals in New Waltham have been left shocked after a joy ride ended in a car being crashed into a goal post and set alight in the early hours.

Yesterday morning (7 November) and roughly 2:30am, a group decided to drive a Mercedes into a goal post on New Waltham Pavilion.

After crashing the car and causing major damage, the group climbed out of the vehicle and set the car alight.

A can of petrol was also found on Tintagel Way which has now been swabbed for fingerprints.

Officers are now appealing for information as a group were spotted on the field before officers arrived on the scene.

Humberside Police said: “Officers were called to reports of a car on fire on the field near St Clements Way in New Waltham, Grimsby at around 2:30am on Monday 7 November.

“It is believed the vehicle had collided with a goal post, before allegedly being set alight. A group of people were reported to have been seen at the scene with the vehicle before officers arrived.

“Officers investigating the incident would appeal for anyone with information to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 34 of 7 November.”
