Kanye West’s latest social media move

Kanye West’s latest social media move

In another significant purchase involving the digital world, Kanye West is now buying his own social media company, to ‘speak his mind’, specifically reported to be one that ‘leans in his direction’.

The rapper/producer just agreed to buy Parler, a conservative platform similar to Twitter, which was previously removed.

He says, “In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves.”

Parler cited it as a “groundbreaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again.”

The purchase details have not yet been disclosed, though a formal contract is yet to be formed with Mr West, with reports suggesting Parler had raised around $56 million in funding to get the site back up.

Parler landed in hot water after it was accused of not doing enough to prevent hate speech and potential violence, with Kanye having his own difficulties being banned from social media sites, including his recent ‘White Lives Matter’ remarks.

It is also reported that Mr West acquaintance, Candace Owens, may have helped ‘facilitate’ the deal, as her husband, George Farmer, is Parler’s CEO.
