Yarbrough Road to remain closed after several days of repairs

Yarborough Road in Grimsby remains closed today as engineers work to fix a gas leak.

The road has been closed off since Wednesday (28 September) at the junction with Toothill Roundabout due to a leak in a pipe that runs under the road.

At the time, Cadent said the junction will remain closed until the repairs have been carried out, adding:

“Our teams have been working here for several days, to investigate and carry out repairs on a gas pipe that runs under the road.

“This is because we have detected readings that indicate a leak. It is something that requires immediate attention, but everything is under control. We recognise the road closure is causing unwanted, albeit unavoidable, disruption.

A Cadent spokesperson said recently: “Our teams have been working here for several days, to investigate and carry out repairs on a gas pipe that runs under the road.

“This is because we have detected readings that indicate a leak. It is something that requires immediate attention, but everything is under control. We recognise the road closure is causing unwanted, albeit unavoidable, disruption.

“We really do appreciate everyone’s patience while we undertake this work. Our teams have been on-site day and night to resolve this as quickly as we safely can. We do not envisage any risk to gas supply in the local area.

“One of the risks in something like this is that people smell gas but don’t report it to us. We would ask that anyone who smells gas reports it immediately to the national gas emergency number 0800 111 999*. Do not dismiss it as being related to this. It may not be, and needs to be checked.”
