Demi Lovato says ongoing tour will be her last after admitting she struggles to get out of bed

Due to an ongoing illness, Demi Lovato has declared that her current tour will be her last.

Lovato,who uses she/they pronouns,  is currently on tour with eighth studio album Holy Fvck, released last month, having kicked live dates off in São Paulo, Brazil, on 30 August. 

In a series of now-deleted posts on social media, Lovato stated that they’ve been feeling unwell and wasn’t able to continue working in this way.

“I’m so f***ing sick I can’t  get out of bed. I can’t do this anymore,” Lovato wrote on Tuesday (13 September). “This next tour will be my last.I love and thank you guys.”

Yesterday, Lovato performed in Santiago, Chile and posted a series of other messages to her followers, saying: “Gonna power thru it for you guys. I’ll need help singing so sing loud for me bb’s!!”. Posting a backstage selfie, she added: “I barely have a voice, I’m gonna be pointing the mic to the audience a lot tonight. Please sing for me.” 

In a final Instagram Story, they also thanked fans for their support, writing: “You guys reeeealy pulled thru tonight… Thank you sooo f***ing much – I love you more than you know.” 

The singer’s fans weighed in on their comments on social media, on user wrote, “if tour has to end then it’s heartbreaking but we DON’T ever want a repeat situation of 2018”

In the last few years the singer has been open about continued struggles with addiction, self-harm, and disordered eating. In July 2018,  Lovato was hospitalised due to a near-fatal overdose where she suffered a heart attack, multiple strokes and brain damage. Since then, she has spent months regaining her sight and stability and taken steps in their sobriety journey,  including completing treatment at a facility last year.

Lovato will continue with the final portion of the tour beginning on September 22 in Sacramento.
