Rapper PnB Rock shot dead in Los Angeles

Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock (30) – real name Rakim Hasheem Allen, has died after being shot during a robbery in a Los Angeles on Monday.

At 1:15 p.m, police responded to a robbery at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles on West Manchester Avenue, where they discovered a victim with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Los Angeles Police Department Captain Kelly Muniz during a press conference.

The suspect pulled out a gun “and demanded his property” before shooting several times “and appears to remove some property,” Muniz added. He was later declared dead at 1:59 p.m. local time, said Muniz, adding that the South Bureau Homicide will be investigating the case along with “many other detectives.”

LAPD officials have yet to name a suspect in the shooting, but an eyewitness told Rolling Stone that the rapper was apparently targeted for his jewellery. 

“He shot the victim and ran out the side door to a getaway car and then fled the parking lot.”

The rapper’s girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang shared in a since-deleted Instagram story a video of her meal at the restaurant shortly before the shooting. 

PnB Rock has been featured on hits like “Everyday We Lit” with fellow rapper YFN Lucci in 2017 and “Dangerous” with rapper Meek Mill and singer Jeremih in 2018. “Everyday We Lit” peaked at No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100 and “Dangerous” peaked at 31.

His latest song, “Luv Me Again,” was released earlier this month.

Tributes have poured in on social media from his peers including Nicki Minaj, Quavo, Denzel Curry, and Meek Mill.

Nicki Minaj said on Twitter: “He was such a pleasure to work with… This makes me so sick.”
