At 1:15 p.m, police responded to a robbery at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles on West Manchester Avenue, where they discovered a victim with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Los Angeles Police Department Captain Kelly Muniz during a press conference.
The suspect pulled out a gun “and demanded his property” before shooting several times “and appears to remove some property,” Muniz added. He was later declared dead at 1:59 p.m. local time, said Muniz, adding that the South Bureau Homicide will be investigating the case along with “many other detectives.”
LAPD officials have yet to name a suspect in the shooting, but an eyewitness told Rolling Stone that the rapper was apparently targeted for his jewellery.
“He shot the victim and ran out the side door to a getaway car and then fled the parking lot.”
The rapper’s girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang shared in a since-deleted Instagram story a video of her meal at the restaurant shortly before the shooting.
