Meghan Markle says British media called her children ‘the N-word’

Meghan Markle has opened up about her decision to not share photos of her and Prince Harry’s children and her life in the royal family in a recent interview with The Cut. The Duchess of Sussex was expected to provide photos of her now-3-year-old son Archie to the Royal Rota, the press pool that covers Queen Elizabeth II and her line of succession.

Markle said, “There’s literally a structure. “Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child? You tell me how that makes sense and then I’ll play that game.”

In her CBS interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, Markle admitted that the bullying from the press was “almost unsurvivable” and that she experienced suicidal thoughts.

“I was really ashamed to have to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, but I knew that if I didn’t say that I would do it” Markle said in a new podcast ‘Archetypes’, “I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”

Markle also stated Prince Harry and her did not have access to the @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account they initially shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton. She further added that Prince Harry and her opted out of the “exchange game” after the couple deactivated their own Instagram account, @Sussexroyal. In the interview with the New York magazine offshoot, Markle foreshadowed her future comeback to Instagram after the couple shut down their account when they officially left their royal positions in February 2021.

Additionally, Markle disclosed to Winfrey that there had been “concerns and conversations” among the family regarding the colour of her son’s skin ahead of his arrival.

“At the time it was awkward, I was a bit shocked,” Harry said, noting that he was “never going to share” who spoke to them about Archie’s complexion.

In November 2021, a source told author Christopher Andersen for his book “Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan” that it was Prince Charles who said what the children will look like.” to his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.

At the time, a spokesperson for the Prince of Wales informed The Post that the report was “fiction and not worth further comment.”
