Family pay tribute to daughter who sadly died in South Elkington crash

19-year-old Grace Wheatley, from Cleethorpes, tragically died in a road collision in South Elkington on 9 August 2022.

Grace was a passenger in a grey Toyota Aygo that collided with a silver Mazda on the A631 at a junction with the A631.

Two men in the back seat, both from Grimsby, were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Grace’s family have now released a tribute.

They said: “There are things in life you can never be prepared for, last week we lost our beautiful daughter Grace in a collision.

“Words cannot describe how heartbroken we are as a family.

“We feel lucky for the time we got to spend with you on this earth; nothing will replace the hole you’ve left.

“You truly will be in our hearts and minds for every moment of our lives.

“We’re so proud of the unique, caring, loving, funny young woman you became.

“A beautiful girl with a beautiful mind, and a beautiful soul.”

Lincolnshire Police renewed its appeal for anyone who was in the area of South Elkington around the time of the collision at 7.50pm on Tuesday and may information or dashcam footage that may assist them in their enquiries to come forward.

A post-mortem examination is due to be held at Leicester Royal Infirmary where she was taken after the crash. An inquest is due to be opened later this week by the Lincolnshire coroner.
