Nine-year-old girl sadly dies after suspected stabbing in Lincolnshire
A nine-year-old girl has sadly passed away after a suspected stabbing in Boston, Lincolnshire yesterday evening.
Lincolnshire Police were called to Fountain Lane at 6:20 pm yesterday evening close to St Botolph’s Church.
Despite efforts from emergency services the young girl sadly died from her wounds.
A large area of the town centre has been cordoned off by officers as CSI teams carry out enquiries this morning. No further information about the girl’s death has yet been released.
Police added that the girl’s parents are being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time.
Lincolnshire Police said: “A nine-year-old girl has sadly died from what is believed to be a stab wound in Boston.
“Officers were called to the scene of the incident at Fountain Lane at around 6.20pm today, Thursday, 28 July.
“We have launched a murder investigation. The area has been cordoned off and we will be at the scene for the foreseeable future.
“The young girl’s parents have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time. Her family will be supported by specialist-trained officers.

Conservative MP for Boston and Skegness, Matt Warman, said he had been in contact with the policing minister to ensure national assistance was available to the investigation.
“Profoundly shocking news in Boston this evening,” he said on Twitter.
“I have spoken to senior officers locally and am hugely grateful for all the emergency services’ work.
“I have also been in contact with Policing Minister Tom Pursglove to ensure that any national help that might be useful is made available as quickly as possible.”
