Elon Musk denies affair with Google co-founder Sergey Brin’s wife

Elon Musk has denied a Wall Street Journal report that claimed he had an affair with Nicole Shanahan, the wife of the Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

Elon Musk said he has seen Sergey Brin’s wife twice in three years, both times in the presence of other people, and there was “nothing romantic” between them. “This is total bs. Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night! I’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. Nothing romantic” he said. In a follow up tweet, Musk wrote that he works “crazy hours, so there just isn’t much time for shenanigans.”

Elon Musk followed up his denial with claims that the publication has engaged in “character assassination” numerous times before and alleged that “none of the key people involved in these alleged wrongdoings were even interviewed!”

Brin filed for divorce from Shanahan in January due to irreconcilable differences, according to court documents filed in California seen by the Wall Street Journal. He did so several weeks after discovering the affair, the publication said. Musk also reportedly dropped to one knee in front of Brin at a party earlier this year to ask for forgiveness over the affair, it added.

Musk suggested that his followers should call out the Wall Street Journal, which “is supposed to have a high standard for journalism.” “WSJ should be running stories that actually matter to their readers and have solid factual basis, not third-party random hearsay,” he wrote.

Musk spoke out about the sudden attention that has come his way in a separate tweet, saying that “even trivial” articles about him have received a lot of clicks.

“The amount of attention on me has gone supernova, which super sucks. Unfortunately, even trivial articles about me generate a lot of clicks 🙁 Will try my best to be heads down focused on doing useful things for civilization,” he tweeted on Monday.
