Amazing Scunthorpe friends raise money in memory of grandmother
Best friends from Scunthorpe will participate in the Kids Summer Challenge set by Lindsey Lodge for a great cause.
8-year-old Betsy, along with best friends Eva, Mila, Matilda, Ivy, Sophie, and Betsy’s brothers and sisters have joined Lindsey Lodge’s Kids Summer Challenge to raise money for an amazing cause.
Sadly, Betsy’s grandmother Val passed away at Lindsey Lodge when she was just 4-year-olds.
She wanted to find a way to help raise money for such an important local charity which fell into place once the hospice announced their exciting summer challenge.
Betsy and her friends will walk 5 miles around Crowle and Ealand whilst dressed in fancy dress!
In a remarkable message shared on their JustGiving page, Betsy recalled visiting her grandmother and how well looked after she was:
“My Granny passed away at Lindsey Lodge when I was 4 years old. I remember visiting her and everyone being so kind to me and my family.
“I thought it would be a nice idea to get my friends involved in helping to give back to such a wonderful place who helped care for my lovely Granny Val.
“We are going to take part in a 5 mile walk on Sunday 21st August around our village of Crowle and Ealand- dressed up in our best fancy dress clothes.
“We are only little, so 5 miles is a long way for our young legs.
“If you would be kind enough to sponsor us for our challenge we would be very grateful.”
Whilst already smashing their initial goal of £500, the total raised continues to increase – lets add to the fund!
