Travellers set up in Central Park handed eviction notice

Travellers who set up camp in Central Park have been handed an eviction notice.

Earlier in the week, images and videos began to emerge of a large gathering of caravans posted up in the town’s park.

The arrival of the travellers was met with mixed reactions as some locals urged for stronger security measures on vast patches of land, others simply suggested travellers should have some where to “park up.”

“If they had somewhere they could park up maybe they wouldn’t go on the fields and parks etc,” argued on resident.

“Central Park is neither a holiday park nor a residential home park,” stated another.

“I’ve just been to the park, they aren’t causing any problems and they are keeping it clean, looks like a beautiful place to camp, can’t fault them,” replied another.

Now, a notice has appeared near to where the caravans are situated that states “the occupants of several touring caravans” are summoned to appear at Grimsby and Cleethorpes Magistrates Court next week (12 July), adding:

“You occupy vehicles stationed at Central Park, Kingsway, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and the said Council now applies pursuant to Section 78 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 for an Order authorising the removal of such vehicles from the said area together with any persons residing therein.”
