Grimsby’s litter picking team praised following a busy weekend
Grimsby’s litter picking team has been praised for their hard work at the weekend following a huge clean-up operation.
It was another busy weekend for North East Lincolnshire Council’s Street Cleansing team in Cleethorpes this weekend, after the bustling nightlife across the resort spilled into the streets.
The team had been deployed to notorious litter hotspots to eradicate debris left in the streets during alcohol-fuelled nights out for locals.
An array of broken glass, empty plastic drinks cups and takeaway boxes greeted the team upon their arrival, but determined to conduct a deep clean, the cleansing team got straight to work!
Like magic, the streets had been completely emptied of litter from the following night, a sight that earned well-deserved praised from residents across the town.
“Well done team, brilliant job,” thanked one local.
“You do a great job. Thank you,” replied another.
Meanwhile, one local argued the punishment for those who drop waste in the streets should be stronger, adding:
“It’s a good job we have street cleaning teams, or the resort would be buried in litter.”
