Anthony Glennon is a Mariner again!
GTFC have proudly announced Anthony Glennon has joined the Mariners again.
After impressing the club during a short loan spell in the 2019-20 campaign, Glennon will again wear black and white stripes in League Two next season.
The 22-year-old left back made 12 appearances and scored a crucial goal for Town during a 2-2 draw Forest Green Rovers.
Glennon signed for Barrow in January making 16 appearances and scoring once during a tough season for the Bluebirds.
Speaking to the club upon signing, Glennon said he was “absolutely buzzing to be back”, adding:
“I loved every minute of my time here when I was on loan, and I can’t wait to get going. I love this Club; it gave me my first opportunity to play first team football and I’ll always be grateful for that.
“I’ve followed the Club’s progress since my loan ended and I’m over the moon we’re back in the Football League where we belong. The fans are unbelievable I can’t wait to meet and play in front of them again.
“When I spoke the with manager it was an easy decision for me. I love the progress the Club has made, and I want to be a part of it. I can’t wait to get going and hopefully this season can be just as progressive as the last.”
Paul Hurst said:
“Anthony is a player who’ll be familiar to our fans after being on loan here previously. Obviously, I haven’t worked with him before, but I know he impressed when he was last here.
“Another factor which is important to me is his character. Everyone I’ve spoken to talks highly about the way he trains and his commitment to his job. When we got in touch in the summer, I had a really good chat with him, and I think the Club had made a really good impression on him in the past. I’m really pleased to have him on board.
“He leaves Burnley where he was well thought of. Like with Jordan Cropper, we really feel these lads have a good grounding, and we want that to continue with us. He and Danny will now fight it out for that left back spot and I look forward to him joining the rest of the group.”
