Suspect assaulted police officers following horrific Scunthorpe robbery

A suspect assaulted police officers before being arrested for a horrific robbery in Scunthorpe.

Earlier this morning, Humberside Police confirmed they arrested two suspects for their involvement in a spate of violence in the town last night.

Officers were alerted of an ongoing assault via submitted CCTV footage which allowed the force to deploy units immediately.

The footage displayed a horrific assault of a man being beaten whilst on the ground. The suspect was then seen searching the pockets of the victim.

Once officers safely located the injured male, other units were tasked with finding the suspect. Thankfully, the perpetrator was eventually found and arrested for robbery.

In a statement, Humberside Police then detailed the threatening behaviour exhibited by the suspect, saying:

“Whilst with Police the suspect thought it would be clever to threaten officers and even attempted to elbow one to the face. The suspect was restrained and further arrested for assault on an emergency worker.

“Whilst completing the paperwork for the first suspect, CCTV updated Police that there was an outstanding second suspect in the nearby area. Response officers, including the sergeant and Inspector, turned out and another was arrested in relation to the robbery.

“Now time to catch up on paperwork!”

Residents thanked the force for their bravery and hard work:

“Great work! Well done”, added on local.

“Well done to our amazing police men and women”, added another.
