Ex-serviceman in ‘Beer, Banter and Bangers!’ veterans rally
The Veterans banger rally is a special event involving ex-forces personnel who take part in a fun “jaunt that would span Europe” in designed older vehicles.
A local man is partaking in the event and has designed his very own ‘banger’ and hopes to dazzle viewers along the way.
Chris recently completed an Ultra-Endurance Event for charity and is now hoping to join in the adventure, he also hopes the designed vehicle will feature in this week’s Cleethorpes carnival.
The group starts with 500 points and it involves acquiring an older vehicle, depending on engine size, the points will be allocated as such.
Most of the teams raise money for charity, with a percentage of the entry fee also going to charity.
A “Veterans Euro Bash” is an organised event, bringing together Veterans from all Armed Forces branches, to drive a gruelling 1500+ mile journey in ‘bangers’ around Europe, and to raise money for charity.
“The older and more knackered the car, the better.”
“Camaraderie of “back in the day” The event is set to become one of the biggest and fastest-growing banger rallies around and is set to support many service-based charities over the coming years. Going back to that guy with PTSD and Depression. That guy is me and this is my dream.” said ex-serviceman John McGowan.
“If there is one adventure/event you should take part in like a veteran, you have found it. What an amazing concept!.” he added.
“If you want to experience the banter, beer, and camaraderie that only forces can provide, you will not be disappointed!” a testimonial read.
The event is organised by veterans, as part of the SSAFA, and each year a route is hand-picked for the best adventure possible.
