Ben Fox leaves Town and signs for League Two opposition! 

Grimsby Town have confirmed the departure of Ben Fox after offering the midfielder a contract extension. 

The Mariners have confirmed the departure of pacey midfielder, Ben Fox, who has instead signed for League Two opposition, Northampton Town. 

In a statement, Grimsby boss Paul Hurst confirmed Fox had been offered a “good contract” to retain his talent at the club, but decided to part ways following an alternative option with “significantly better terms” 

“His contribution to our promotion, particularly in the play-off games will not be forgotten and we wish Ben all the best at his new club”, Hurst added. 

Before announcing his new club, the 24-year-old issued a ‘thank you’ statement which read: 

“After the most unbelievable year at Grimsby Town, it’s time for me to move on. 

“I’ve loved every second of being involved with this football club. 

“Huge thank you to the gaffer & staff for giving me the opportunity to play for this club. And a special thank you goes to Jason, Andrew & Debbie for transforming this club into something that so many can be proud of, it’s been a pleasure to be involved. 

“All the best for the future – UTM.” 

Following Fox’s exit announcement, Northampton Town confirmed they had signed the midfielder on a two-year deal. 

“We are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Ben Fox on a two-year deal! Welcome to Sixfields, Ben!”, the club said.
