Young girl clears up Hubbards Hills litter to help the environment

A young girl has voluntarily helped clean up Hubbards Hill after it was left covered in litter over the weekend.

Hubbards Hills in Louth is a popular hotspot for locals and tourists alike to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather.

It boasts beautiful forest walks, rolling hills, and a much-loved river where children are often spotted playing.

However, after a weekend of sunshine, the popular area was left covered in litter, with the surrounding bins being full.

One young girl took it upon herself to tidy up the area, hoping to help the environment and the animals at the park.

Freya-Mai Brown, 8, was on an evening walk with her mum when she saw discarded food wrappers, plastic bottles, and napkins.

In a moving gesture, the eight-year-old refused to leave the site until all the litter was cleared away, stating that it was bad for the animals and the environment.

Mum Maria shared the heartwarming gesture on Facebook, writing: “So what was supposed to be a nighttime walk up Hubbards Hills turned into a nighttime litter pick. My little girl saw all the rubbish and said it’s bad for the animals and the environment so she refused to leave till we picked it all up so. Bit of a proud mummy moment.”

Many on social media were quick to praise Freya-Mai for her amazing work at keeping local areas clean.

One person wrote: “Well done to your daughter, you should be so so proud. Wish everybody thought the same way.”

Another added: “Fantastic, well done! I hope the disgusting people who left this mess behind feel ashamed of the. With kids like her, our planet does have a future.”
