Grimsby man campaigns for face mask exemptions

Masks no longer needed for appointments at Grimsby and Scunthorpe hospitals

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust have shared an update stating that those attending an appointment at one of their hospitals no longer need to wear a mask.

Those going to the emergency department or visiting a ward will still need to wear a mask unless exempt.

At the end of April, the trust announced a further relaxation of covid restrictions, allowing patients to receive two visitors at the standard visiting hours.

Patients attending outpatient appointments can now bring one other person along for support but children are not allowed to attend.

Those staying on maternity wards during the antenatal or postnatal period can have their main birth partner can now visit for as long as they wish during the day without booking in advance. Partners are not able to stay overnight.

If your child is admitted to hospital, one parent or guardian can remain with them throughout their stay but again, must wear a mask (unless exempt). Parents of children staying with us and babies being cared for in NICU can swap with grandparents if needed during the stay.

Some hospital staff will also no longer need to wear face masks after two long years of tight restrictions.

Masks and hand sanitizer remain at the hospital entrances for those who wish to wear a mask.

NLaG said: “Update on face masks at Scunthorpe, Grimsby, and Goole hospitals

“Coming in for an appointment? You no longer need to wear a face mask.

“Coming into our Emergency Department or visiting a ward? You still need to wear one unless exempt.

“You’ll still be able to find face masks at the main entrances of our hospitals and you’re encouraged to wear one if it makes you more comfortable.

“You may see some of our staff not wearing a face mask, as this applies to them too.”
