Warning for increased flaring and noise levels due to oil refinery works
Locals are being warned ahead of oil refinery works that noise levels may increase for an extended period of time.
Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery emailed residents stating that 10 days’ worth of inspection and maintenance works will begin on Friday, June 3.
Motorists are also warned that during the works traffic may increase on Eastfield Road in South Killingholme where the refinery is situated.
Normal operations are set to resume in July but the exact date will be determined at a later time once works have finished.
Prax Lindsey said in an email to residents: “We will be shortly undertaking a shutdown of some of our production units for scheduled maintenance and inspection work. This may result in some increased flaring and noise levels from Friday 3 June for an estimated ten days.
“Once the units are in shutdown maintenance and inspection works can begin. During this stage, you may see increased traffic activity on Eastfield Road.
They added that the works will “be managed in such a way as to create as little disturbance as possible, and to ensure any disruption is kept to an absolute minimum.
“It is expected that normal operations will resume in July. We will provide another update to confirm the unit restart date in July.”
