The Mariners will face Notts County for the 3rd time this season on Monday in a play-off eliminator fixture.
Grimsby Town will have the chance to edge closer to promotion if they beat Notts County on Monday (23 May)
Both teams have recorded a win against the other in extremely tight fashion.
Earlier in the campaign, the Magpies travelled to Blundell Park and took three-point home with them, following a narrow 1-0 victory.
Ruben Rodrigues broke the deadlock in the 90th minute, a result sandwiched between a spell of disappointing score lines – a 1-0 away defeat at Wealdstone and a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Aldershot.
However, when the sides met in the reverse fixture, the Mariners outclassed County in the final 15 minutes of play.
Callum Roberts bagged the opener at Meadow Lane which saw Town trailing for most of the game.
Just before the 80th minute mark, Ryan Taylor scored the equaliser which gave the Black and White Army the clinical motivation to steal all three points.
It was Grimsby Town’s player of the year, Luke Waterfall, who netted the winner which emulated the last-minute decisive goal back when the teams met earlier in the season.
After the incredible performance, the Mariners managed to go on a six-game unbeaten streak.
Although both teams managed to claim victory against one another, the Mariners obtained their win at Meadow Lane, the fixture for Monday’s play-off eliminator!
Can we go all the way? Let us know, fellow Mariners!
