Driver claims ‘I’m not from around here, I’m from Grimsby!’ after parking blunder

Police were left confused and amused after a motorist who parked in front of traffic lights used the excuse that he was from Grimsby.

Sharing a picture of the parking blunder, a silver BMW can be seen parked on the white zig-zag lines in front of a pedestrian crossing in Dorest.

The driver appeared from a local shop with food just as the officers had their ticket book out.

When the driver saw he was about to receive a fine, he told the police: “I’m not from around here, I’m from Grimsby.”

Despite the driver’s heartfelt excuse, he is now facing a minimum six-month disqualification after receiving three points on his licence and a £100 fine.

He already had another nine points for various other offences.

The Dorest No Excuse Team posted the exchange on Facebook, writing: “While on patrol in the Bournemouth area we came across this vehicle parked on the zig zags unattended.

“The driver soon appeared from a local establishment with food.

“When we opened our ticket book, his reply was “I’m not from round here, I’m from Grimsby!”

“Do they have different laws in Grimsby?

“The driver was already on 9pts for various offences and is looking at a minimum 6 month disqualification for totting up now.

“The driver received 3pts and a £100 fine… we say it often enough, why risk it?”
