Pair arrested for theft and going equipped after roadside search finds stolen items

A pair from Louth have been arrested after a roadside search found a number of stolen items and cash.

A 38-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were arrested for theft and going equipped after police suspected them of stealing from roadside stalls.

Amongst the stolen items were an antique teapot, cartons of eggs, jars of jam, plants, baked goods, and vegetables.

Police have asked locals along the A1031 to check their roadside stalls and honesty boxes to see if they have had anything taken.

Louth Police said: “At 22:20 hours on 09/05/22 a vehicle was reported to be driving in a suspicious manner on A1031 in Grainthorpe. Following police stopping the vehicle a number of items and a quantity of money were seized from the vehicle.

“The two occupants a 38-year-old female and a 40-year-old male were arrested for theft and going equipped. We believe a lot of these items have come from roadside stalls.

“We are asking people on the A1031 to check their roadside stalls and honesty boxes to see if they have had anything taken? Do you recognise any of these items or know who might sell them? We want to reunite people with there goods.

“If you have any information regarding the items or any doorbell or cctv footage showing a black honda acting suspiciously around 2130-2230 hrs please ring 101 and quote Incident 442 09/05/22.”
