Over 100 ‘Partygate’ fines handed out by Scotland Yard

There have been more than 100 fines handed out to those in question working at Downing Street, as part of a response to those breaking Covid laws at the time.

Scotland Yard has revealed that the body has handed out over 100 fines or FPNs, which has seen the figure double within a month.

The month that has followed has seen the amount of FPNs originally stated double, as both Conservatives and Labour face a grilling.

The last update that was made public stated that there had been around 50 fines, and now the figure has doubled.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has not yet commented on whether he has received another fine, after previously paying a £50 fine for attending his birthday Party in June 2020, which indoor events or gatherings were illegal at the time.

The PM has continuously denied knowing that it was not a work event.

Speaking duing a trip to India, the PM deflected questions about his leadership and his future, returning to his rhetoric that he wants to ‘get on with the job’.

Speaking on the BBC’s Today programme, chair of the Defence Committee Tobias Ellwood said Conservative MPs were “deeply troubled” and warned that the ongoing row about lockdown parties was doing “long-term damage to the party’s brand”.

He accused No 10 of lacking “discipline, focus and leadership” and predicted the prime minister would face a vote of no confidence, which could force him out of office.
