Whole host of exciting local events this month
As we progress into May there are many events to be enjoyed in the local area by all.
NELC has showcased various events throughout the month in a celebration of all things local.
“Whether your passion is for enjoying the great outdoors, things to do and see, comedy or live music, there’s something for everyone.”
The Tour de Moon Convoy will be visiting Grimsby’s St James Square on Tuesday 17 May in the evening from 6 pm to 10.30 pm.
Grimsby is one of the stopping-off places as part of a national festival for the Moon Convoy, a sustainable armada of vehicles, appearing and disappearing at night and bring interactive and ultra-violet experiences to life.
Another event showcased is #OurFutureStartsHere, labelled as an inspiring mix of culture, art, and conversation focusing on where we’re all heading and what matters to us now.
The event, developed by The Culture House and will feature outstanding performances by national touring companies.
It is backed by the Grimsby Creates programme, the event will run from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 May in and around Grimsby.
The Cleethorpes Culture Festival is set for this weekend, Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May at St. Aidan’s Church, Grimsby Road in Cleethorpes from 10 am to 4 pm.
“This free event will be a weekend-long celebration of local culture, arts, and more.”
Immingham Model Railway Show is also on this coming weekend Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May from 10 am to 4 pm at Immingham Museum and Civic Centre.
“This two-day event will showcase visiting layouts in a range of gauges and will have rides for children on a 5” gauge steam-hauled line and is a must-visit for all model railway enthusiasts and those fascinated by trains.”
The Pride of Grimsby is a free exhibition at the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre until 14 May and celebrates the talent of local artists and stories of our area – past, present, and future.
“Each represents the artist’s connection with the local area and the stories which connect them to the place they call home.”
Another exhibition is on at Turntable Gallery, You Will Find Me Under the Heaviest of Blankets is a visual exhibition by solo artist Abigail Jouanides at the Turntable Gallery on Victoria Street in Grimsby’s town centre.
This new artist-run contemporary art space has been supported by the Grimsby Create programme’.
There is also a performance by Grimsby Symphony Orchestra’s Spring Concert in the atmospheric setting of Grimsby Minster on 21 May at 3.30 pm.
The Cleethorpes Folk and Cider Festival returns this year from 27-29 May at Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway and The Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival is on until 5 June this year.
