Traffic Officers remove teens filming TikTok video on busy motorway
South Yorkshire Police and Traffic Officers were forced to remove four teenagers after they were spotted filming a TikTok video on the side of a busy motorway.
The BBC said a joint operation from traffic and South Yorkshire Police officers interrupted four teenagers filming videos for TikTok on the side of the M1, near Barnsely on Monday 1 May.
National Highways stated they left the youngsters with “stern words of wisdom” before reminding them the dangers of the motorway.
Highways England team manager, Russel Asquith, said:
“The last thing we want is a tragedy because someone has decided to walk across or near the motorway network”
“Incidents on the motorway network involving pedestrians who have no reason to be there in the first place are not only tragic but also cause distress to our officers and the emergency services – and hours of delays for legitimate motorway users”, he added.
In a social media post, National Highways Yorkshire said the motorway is no place to be creating TikTok content.
Adding:
“Our traffic officers and South Yorkshire Police removed four children to safety from our network with some stern words of wisdom”
